01 — The Consult

Is the NAD+ pen actually prescription-only?

Yes. NAD+ compounded for injection is a prescription medicine in the United States. Every Medivive order is reviewed and signed by a US-licensed physician, then dispensed by a licensed 503A pharmacy. You cannot buy it from a supplement company.

Do I need to do a video call with the physician?

Not in most states. Most cases are reviewed asynchronously based on the intake — similar to how telehealth platforms like Hims and Ro work. If your physician needs more information, they may message you or schedule a call. Some states require a synchronous visit by law; we'll let you know during intake if yours does.

How much does the consultation cost?

Zero. The physician consultation is included in the price of your prescription. If your prescription is not approved, you are not charged.

What if I'm not approved?

You aren't charged. About 1 in 7 intakes are declined — usually due to contraindications (pregnancy, certain medications, certain medical conditions) or because the physician determines NAD+ isn't medically appropriate for you. Your data is then deleted unless you ask us to keep it for a future visit.

How long until I get a response?

Most intakes are reviewed within 24-48 hours during business days. You'll receive an email when your physician has made a decision, and shipping begins immediately after approval.

02 — Shipping & Packages

How does shipping work?

Every pen ships from a licensed 503A pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with cold packs and a temperature indicator. Most orders arrive within 2-3 business days of approval via overnight or 2-day carrier. Shipping is included — there are no separate handling fees.

What states do you ship to?

We currently ship to 41 US states. During the intake we'll check your state. If your state isn't supported, you'll be notified before payment — we never bill an undeliverable order.

What package options are available?

You can choose a 1-month supply for $199, a 2-month supply for $389, or a 3-month supply for $579. Refills are requested as needed after eligibility review.

How do refills work?

Refill availability depends on prescription status, remaining refills, state rules, and provider review. Eligible patients can request a refill from the account portal.

What if my package arrives warm?

Contact support@medivive.com immediately. We'll review the temperature indicator and replacement-ship at no charge if the cold chain was broken. Do not use a pen that you suspect was temperature-compromised.

Returns?

Because the pen is a personalized prescription medicine, opened pens cannot be returned for safety reasons. For unopened, unshipped orders we issue full refunds; for other situations, contact us in good faith.

03 — Using the Pen

How do I use the pen?

Each pen ships with printed instructions and a link to a short video. Briefly: store refrigerated. Before each dose, attach a fresh needle, dial your prescribed dose (e.g., 10 units = 33.3 mg), pinch the skin on your abdomen or thigh, inject, hold for 6 seconds, dispose of the needle in the included sharps pouch.

Does it hurt?

The included needle is 31-gauge, 5mm — about as thin as a needle gets. Most subscribers describe the injection as a brief pinch. Subcutaneous injection is significantly less intense than IV.

What if I miss a dose?

Simply resume your regular dosing schedule at the next scheduled dose. Do not double-dose to make up for a missed one. If you've missed multiple doses, your physician may want to discuss titration.

How do I store it?

Refrigerate at 2–8°C (36–46°F). Protect from light by keeping in the original case. Do not freeze. A pen can be out of refrigeration briefly during travel; for longer travel, use the temperature-protected case included with your kit.

What kind of needles do I need if I run out?

The standard included needle is 31G, 5mm pen needle. You can find compatible needles at most pharmacies or online (Amazon, Walgreens). Always use a new sterile needle for each injection.

How do I dispose of used needles?

Use the FDA-cleared sharps pouch included with your kit. When full, follow your local pharmacy or health-department disposal instructions — most pharmacies accept full sharps containers for safe disposal.

04 — Safety & Outcomes

Will it work for me?

Patient response varies. NAD+ therapy is supported by research on cellular aging, mitochondrial function, and DNA repair, but it isn't FDA-approved for any specific condition. We intentionally don't promise outcomes on this site — your physician is the right person to discuss expected outcomes in the context of your individual health history.

What are the side effects?

The most commonly reported side effects are mild and short-lived: injection-site redness, flushing, or fatigue in the hours following a dose. Rarely, headache or nausea. Stop using the pen and contact your physician if you experience anything more serious. Full safety information is provided with your shipment.

Who should NOT use this?

Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals; anyone under 18; people with certain medical conditions or on certain medications. Your physician screens for all contraindications during intake. If you're unsure, complete the intake — there's no charge to be evaluated.

Can I combine the pen with other therapies?

Tell your prescribing physician about all medications, supplements, and other therapies you take. Many longevity and metabolic protocols combine NAD+ with peptide or hormonal therapies, but every combination should be evaluated for compatibility.

Is the pen sterile?

Yes. Each pen is compounded under cGMP at a 503B outsourcing facility, sterility-tested per batch, and shipped in tamper-evident packaging. A Certificate of Analysis is available for every batch on request.

05 — The Product

Where is it made?

Manufactured at VeV Scientific, an FDA-registered cGMP 503B outsourcing facility in San Diego, California, using a formulation transferred from SpectrumX in the UK. Dispensed by Chemistry Rx, a PCAB-accredited and LegitScript-certified 503A pharmacy.

How much NAD+ is in a pen?

1,000 mg per prefilled pen — a 30-day supply at the most common dosing protocol (about 33 mg/day). Your physician may adjust your prescribed dose up or down.

How does this compare to IV NAD+?

IV delivers a large bolus over several hours at a clinic; the pen delivers smaller daily subcutaneous doses at home. Most subscribers find daily microdosing more practical and tolerable, though either route can be appropriate depending on your physician's recommendation.

Is it FDA-approved?

Compounded NAD+ for injection is not FDA-approved for any specific condition — no compounded medicine is. Our manufacturing facility is FDA-registered, our pharmacy is state-licensed, and the formulation traces to a complete drug development program in the UK. This is regulated medicine, just not a branded approved product.
